Sunday 18th March – Swimming Cancelled
Due to the heavy overnight snow apologies but we cannot get all the teachers / helpers to the pool so lessons and squads will have to be cancelled today.

Due to the conditions there be no swimming for squads or lessons on Friday or Saturday at least.
We will advise on Sunday later.
With the predicted snow and disruption tonight there will be no training on Thursday morning (1st March). Please pass the message on to others.
Over the last three weekends seven swimmers from Seaclose Swimming Club qualified and competed at Portsmouth in both age group and youth championships.
Island Games swimmer Abigail Lacey (16 years age group) lead the way winning four individual Championship titles and also collecting 2 silver and 2 bronze medals along the way. Abi was Hampshire Champion in 50m Breaststroke (35.99 sec), 50m Butterfly (30.49 sec), 100m Breaststroke (1.17.58) and 200 Individual Medley (2 min 31.65 sec). Silver medals were achieved in the 100m Freestyle (1 min 02.41 sec) and 100m Butterfly (1 min 08.41 sec) with Bronze medals in the 200m Breaststroke (2 min 55.12 sec) and 50m Freestyle (29.41 sec).
Fellow Island Games swimmer Megan King (17 years age group) also picked up a medal, collecting a bronze medal in the 50m Breaststroke event (37.63 sec). Lelayna Blacklock and Amber Backhouse (17 years age group) both competed individually with Lelayna achieving 6th in the 800m Freestyle and Amber 9th in the 100m Breaststroke event. All four girls then teamed up to swim in the 4 x 100m Freestyle relay where they finished a creditable 9th place.
Zac Lacey also competed for the first time as a Multi-Classfication disability swimmer at the Championships and collected a silver medal in the 100m Butterfly event in a time of 1 min 44.09 sec.
Seaclose’s youngest swimmers George Hayward and Oliver Lacey (both 12 years age group) were in action over the first two weekends with George suffering from illness he withdrew during the second weekend but still managed a best result of 12th in both the 200m Individual Medley and 100m Butterfly. Oliver produced his best result in the 200m Butterfly to finish 6th and take 19 secs of his personal best in a time of 3 min 24.81 sec.
As a reminder the annual awards night is Friday this week (12th) so there will be no training on Friday evening.
Training on as normal on Saturday morning.

There last lessons for the year will be on the 16/17 December. No lessons on the 23/24th or 30/31st December. Lessons begin again on 6/7th January
The last session of squads before Christmas will be on Thursday 21st December.
Normal sessions begin again on Wednesday 3rd January.
Update – following feedback / availability we will run ONE session between Christmas and New Year on Thursday 28th December only. There will be no training on the morning of the 27th.
The club will be supporting the City of Southampton Open meet which takes place on Saturday 3rd March 2018
Age groups are 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15+.
Events are 50m of all strokes, 100m of all strokes, 200m Free and 200IM.
The meet is a first come first served basis so if you want to enter please get all information to Val via openmeets@seaclosesc.co.uk by January 8th at the latest to give the best chance of being accepted to the meet.
