2025 Isle of Wight Champs

Seaclose Swimming Club are happy to be running the Isle of Wight Championships in 2025.

This competition is open to all Swim England Registered clubs on the Isle of Wight. 

The competition is run over two weekends as follows:

Saturday 29th March – 100m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 100m Fly
Saturday 5th April – 100m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley, 100m Backstroke

Doors will open at 16.30 for a 16.45 warm up.

Lessons Swim Gala – Island Games Fundraiser

Lessons GalaWe are running a swimming competition which is open to all of the swimmers in our lessons groups (Saturday mornings – 08.15 and 08.45 groups). The competition will be on Saturday 5th April, 08.00-09.30 in place of our normal lessons.

This will be a great opportunity for our younger swimmers to experience racing at Medina swimming pool, with a Medal for everyone that competes and a chance to win prizes on a ‘chuck a duck’ competition.

All funds raised through the event will go towards supporting our swimmers to attend the 2025 Orkney Island Games.

The Island Games is a bi-annual, international competition. Being selected for the team is a huge achievement and we are proud to be supporting the team.

Christmas 2024

Christmas Break 2024

Please see details of our Christmas break for 2024. 

Lessons – The last lessons of the year will be on Saturday 14th December and will return on Saturday 4th Jan 2025
Junior Squad – Last session the Friday 20th December. This will be a fun session from 18.15-19.30
Junior squads will return on Saturday 4th Jan.
 
Pre-senior and Senior Squads will have the following sessions:
Friday 20th December fun session from 18.15-19.30.
Saturday 21st December from 07.45-09.15 
Last session Monday 23rd normal time – 18.15-20.15.
There will be one session between xmas and new year on Saturday 28th December, 07.15-09.15.
Training will return on Saturday 4th Jan.
 
Please note there will be no lessons or squads on the weekend of 11/12 Jan due to the Brighton Open meet and County Swim Champs.
 

Pool Closure. 30th Sept – 6th Oct

As the pool is shut for maintenance to remind everyone there are no sessions from 30th Sept – 6th Oct. Training is back as normal from Monday 7th.

This means NO Squad sessions until Monday 7th, and NO Lessons on Saturday 5th October.

For our squad swimmers we have arranged some land based sessions during the week which you are welcome to attend.

On Monday 30th we will Ellie King will be running a nutrition session for us. This is 18.15-20.15 at Medina Leisure Centre in the ‘Carabiner’ meeting room (near the main sports hall). The session is for Parents and Swimmers. Ellie will make the session interactive and has asked if you can attend to take some photos of the food/snacks you eat over a day to use in the session.

On Wednesday 2nd Rosie Gard will be taking some strength and conditioning sessions. This is again in the Carabiner room in Medina. These are for swimmers. For Junior and Pre-Senior squads the session will be 18.15-19.00 and Senior squad from 19.15-20.15. It will involve exercises so wear suitable clothes / footwear and bring a drink.

On Friday 4th there will be information sessions for swimmers and parents. These will be at the main hall at Christ the King college from 18.15-20.15. We will cover a range of topics including pre/post workout exercises, information on how different competitions work and goal setting.

Summer Break 2024

The last sessions before the summer break will be Saturday 27th July for both squads and lessons.

Lessons will return on Saturday 7th September.

Squads will return on Monday 2nd September.

We can now confirm that there will be squad sessions on the following dates:

Wed 21st & Fri 23rd August – 18.15 – 20.15 
Tues 27th 06.00 – 07.15 
Fri 30th 18.15 – 20.15 

Isle of Wight Champs 2024

Seaclose Swimming Club are happy to be running the Isle of Wight Championships in 2024.

This competition is open to all Swim England Registered clubs on the Isle of Wight. Seaclose Swimming Club members must use this form to enter.

The competition is run over two weekends as follows:

Saturday 6th July – 100m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 100m Fly
Saturday 13th July – 100m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley, 100m Backstroke

Each day will start at 15.30.

In line with Swim England licensing guidelines entries are open for 9-10 year olds and over, based on ages as at 31st December 2024. Full conditions for entry are here.

Closing date for entries is Midnight Friday 28th June. Entries are £5 per event.

Christmas 2023 Arrangements

We will be taking a short break over Christmas 2023 with the following arrangements.

Lessons

The last lessons before Christmas will be Saturday 16th December
Lessons will start again on Saturday 6th January 2024

Squads

The final squad session before Christmas will be Wednesday 20th December
Squad sessions will start back on Wednesday 3rd Jan 2024.

We will run two sessions over the Christmas period – Thursday 28th December, 06.00-07.15 and Saturday 30th December 07:45-09:15.

Also – due to club champs there will be no training on the following dates:
Friday 8th December
Friday 15th December
Monday 18th December

Christmas Fun Night

We are holding a Christmas fun night on Saturday 16th December from 17.00 – 18.30. All squad and lessons swimmers and families are welcome to come to this.
